Case Notes

Recovered from Site Theta at a depth of 2.3 km, Specimen 013 is one of a numbered series of 100, of which this Institute can confirm the current location of six.

The vial has not been opened since sealing. Chemical analysis was attempted twice, from outside the glass; both attempts are on file as “inconclusive,” which is the classification used when the results were declined rather than absent.

Handling notes recommend the vial be kept upright, out of direct light, and — per a since-departed technician’s handwritten addendum — “not spoken to, on the off chance.”
